Over
20,000 candidates are set to sit for this year’s National Common
Entrance Examination in Lagos, Mr Abimbola Afolabi, Lagos zonal head,
National Examinations Council (NECO) has said.
Afolabi in Lagos on Friday said that all was set for the conduct of the examination.
He
said that this year’s figure was higher than that of 2012 and the
council would use 95 centres for the conduct of the examination across
the state on Saturday, April 13.
The
examination, which would be conducted simultaneously across the
country, was for admission of candidates into the 104 Unity Colleges.
“We have concluded arrangements and are anticipating a smooth conduct of the examination in the state.
“I
want to assure the public that all the centres we shall be using for
the examination will be well secured as has always been the case.
“I
will like to appeal to parents and guardians to get their children and
wards well prepared for the examination by ensuring that they assist
them with their work at home.
“They should also get them to their respective examination centres early.
“We
expect that parents will also talk to them on the need for them to
comply with the examination guidelines and avoid anything that would
jeopardise their chances of qualifying for admission,” Afolabi said.
He
also urged parents to ensure that the candidates come to the
examination centres with all their writing materials and other necessary
documents such as their photo cards for proper identification. (NAN)
